Sabres Dispose of Blue Jackets 5-0

The Buffalo Sabres got a rare blow-out win Friday as they took down the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-0. The Sabres put together their most complete game of the season and dominated in all facets of the game.

The Sabres got off to a fast start taking a 2-0 lead in the first period. Jochen Hecht and Jason Pominville scored for Buffalo to give them the early lead. Buffalo had constant pressure and Columbus didn't know what hit them.

Drew Stafford added a power-play goal in the second period to give Buffalo a 3-0 lead. It was Stafford's first game back from an injury that has sidelined him since November 5th.

The game got feisty in the 3rd period as fights and penalties were happening every few minutes. There was 91 total penalty minutes between the clubs in the third period. The best fight was between Patrick Kaleta and Derek Dorsett. Dorsett got a few early punches in but Kaleta eventually took over and destroyed him in the fight.

After all the penalties ended, Tyler Ennis and Thomas Vanek added goals and Buffalo went on to win 5-0. Ryan Miller recorded his first shutout of the season and Buffalo moved into a tie for 10th in the eastern conference.

The Sabres have little time to enjoy the win as they take on the rival Ottawa Senators tomorrow night at Scotiabank Place.
