Sunday's game between the Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills features two teams that don't have any hopes for the postseason this season. Both teams have losing records and have multiple positions of concern.
You may ask: "Why watch this game on Sunday?" Good question. I have the answer.
Instead of looking at it from a glass half empty perspective, I'll take the glass half full perspective.
The Cleveland Browns are a team on the rise that has played competitive football the entire season. They have beaten good teams such as the Saints and the Patriots and have come close to beating the Falcons and the Jets.
On the Bills side, they have an awful record but they have had a brutal schedule. They have lost four games by 3 points to opponents with winning records and lost another game by 5 points to the Miami Dolphins. They have played competitive football in all but three games the entire season and have come within a play of beating teams such as the Ravens, Chiefs, Bears, and Steelers.
So, "why should you watch this game?" You should watch because you are going to see two entertaining teams with potential for the future fight it out even though they know they have nothing to play for.
Now onto the game:
The key to the game on Sunday might not have anything to do with the actual teams on the field. Yeah, that's right. I'm talking about the weather.
Weather.com has the game forecast in the low 30's, with snow and medium wind. This may force both teams to run the ball more than there accustomed too.
The Browns would look forward to that as they are a power running team led by Peyton Hillis. Hillis is a "monster" who runs over defenders. He is near 1,000 yards on the year and has 13 total touchdowns.
While the Bills are more of a passing team. Chan Gailey uses the passing game to set up the run. If the weather is poor on Sunday, this could hurt the Bills severely as they are not power football team.
The key to the game will come down to whoever wins in the trenches. I expect the Bills to wither down in the weather and lose to Cleveland for the 4th consecutive year.
Prediction: Browns 27-21
