Ohio Grabs 1st MAC Win of the Season Over Akron


On Wednesday, Ohio grabbed there 1st MAC victory of the season on the road against MAC East contender Akron.

Ohio led the entire game before winning 79-70.

They led by as much as 24 and were up 37-21 at halftime. Akron tried to get back into the game late but had too much ground to make up.

Akron entered Wednesday's contest with the highest RPI of any team in the MAC. Their RPI of 86 is over 100 spots higher than what Ohio's RPI currently is.

So you can see the significance of Ohio's victory of Akron.

-It shows that Ohio can still beat anybody in the MAC.
-Ohio can go win on the road.
-Ohio is a team to reckon in the MAC East.
-The MAC is a lot closer than what everybody thought.

Now onto the game.

Nick Kellogg led the Bobcats in scoring with 23 points. Cooper added a double-double with 13 points and 15 assists.

Also, Tommy Freeman scored 16 points off the bench for Ohio.

For Akron, Steve McNees was their only player to score in double-digits as he scored 15 points.

With the win, Ohio moves to 8-8 (1-1) and gains there 1st conference win of the season. They next play Saturday at home vs. Kent State.
